About

I am a 34 year old wife, mother, and teacher. I am also now a cancer patient. For now, I use the word “patient” because I have only begun my journey. I was diagnosed five days ago with colon cancer. It won’t be long, Lord willing, that I will be changing this About page to read “cancer survivor” instead of “cancer patient.”

I was first introduced to blogging through my husband. He began blogging when he was staying home with our three children. He created The Daddy Daycare to capture the experiences of the day and to give himself an outlet. Then, he began blogging at Bovine Theology. I actually thought blogging was ridiculous. I mean, here you are putting your personal thoughts, feelings, and ideas out on the web for anyone and everyone to see. I, for one, was not ready to open myself up to that. Well, now I have a different perspective.

I see this blog as an outlet for me. It’s also a way to document my journey so that my children can read about it later…when they are much older. It’s also a way for my friends and family to keep up with what is going on as far as treatment goes. The neat thing about blogging is that I get to express myself and you, the reader, get to read as much as you want to read. So, go ahead and read as much or as little as you like. I’ll never know when you close the page! :-) I have many thoughts I would like to journal here, but the fact of the matter is that the prognosis looks pretty good for me and I’ll have to live with whatever I put in print, so I’ll keep it to what I can live with after all this is a memory!
